EL PROYECTO ( THE PROJECT)

Hi, my name is Francesco Bracci and I'm a visual artist and an architect from Costa Rica.  For the past 11 years I've been developing art projects on public spaces and this has become my passion. I really enjoy connecting people through art. You can see more of my work at: www.fbracci.com

One of my main interests is the use of the material. I realized that eventually is not necessary to use virgin materials if we have so many elements out there that already fulfill its useful life and  that can be used again and again, with a different function.

Doing art on public spaces is usually a complex mission, because there are many costs and logistics involved. That's why all my work have been basically done here in Costa Rica.

This year I received an invitation to participate in Open Art ( http://openart.se/2017/en/start-2/ ) wich is held in Orebrö Sweden. This is a great opportunity because the main focus of this Biennial is the Public Space, which is my main field of interest.

The place where I'm going to develop my work, is the iconic and beautiful Orebrö Castle, which is surrounded by water and sidewalks .

My project consist in building a prototype composed of 3000  beer crates that emerges from the water as an element that connects visually and functionally different levels and perspectives. So you can be walking on the sidewalk and immediately be transport into the water.

A tunnel have a strong symbolic charge wich is potentiate in this case by the composition of its rotating elements, to produce in the viewer the feeling that time can move differently from outside to inside, that travelling through space is possible and that eventually you can be in one place and another both at the same time.

I choose to work with plastic crates, because it's a material you can find almost in every place. They have a great structural qualities and they work as a big Lego on a public space.

The final colors will be red and blue, which are the original colors of the crates we're going to use. The dimensions of the project are the following: 24 mts long x 4 mts height x 4mts width.

HOW?

Open Art is helping me with airplane tickets, logistics on site, engineers to calculate the metal structure, general contacts and accommodation, but I still need around 13,000 € to make it happen.

That's why I'm asking you to help me make this possibility a reality.
